How to Look for Data Entry from Home

If you are looking for data entry work, you will see many ads that promise thousands of dollars a week for doing easy typing work and data entry work from home.

If you've checked these programs, you may have been tempted by their sales pitch and attractive promises of easy work from home. They make it sound so easy and tell you all you need to do is enter data into forms. You may already have bought one or more of these programs and wasted your money.

Can you get legitimate data entry work from home?

Unfortunately, the majority of data entry work at home programs are scams. Stop looking in the wrong places. Don't search for easy work with top pay without experience needed. Don't search for keywords like "work from home, work at home jobs, work at home jobs no fees, data entry programs." These searches will show you all the scams.

"Data entry programs" are almost guaranteed to tell you to fill in forms to promote affiliate programs. When "filling in forms" you'll set up ads for pay per click advertising such as Google Adwords and you'll pay advertising fees when people click on your ad.

The good news is that you can find legitimate data entry work from home if you are looking in the right places. Real data entry work involves a lot more than just filling in forms. The best way to get data entry work or typing work from home is to become a freelancer and promote yourself as a secretarial service or virtual assistant.

Start promoting your typing and secretarial services instead of looking for easy promises. Find your own clients, learn to market, and create promotional materials.

Don't be naïve.

Don't waste your money on those scams. If you fall for those types of programs, you're looking in the wrong direction and will miss out on real data entry and typing work from home. Your success will start when you learn to distinguish the real work from home from the easy promises that will not make you any money from home.

A real business takes work.

If someone promises you good money for easy work without experience, ignore it. Your business will start to take off when you look at real opportunities to work from home. If you look in the right direction, you will find legitimate typing work and data entry work from home. And be prepared to put in some work and effort.

Process at home jobs range from the data entry and type at home jobs to rebate processing. Although many of the jobs seem legitimate at first glance, many of them are not. Email Processing - One Type of Data Entry Scam

Email processing appeals to people who are looking for typing work and want to make money working from home with their computer.

The email processing scams comes in several variations. They are similar to envelope stuffing scams because you get paid when placing ads and selling the same scam to others.
The promises:

After paying an administrative fee, you'll receive a training kit and you can become an email processor processing emails from home.

You will get paid $5 to $50 for each email you process.

You can process as many emails as you want and work when you want to.

You get paid immediately after each email you process.

The warning signs:

You have to pay a fee to get work. Some companies may need help with sending out emails but they won't charge money for training materials.

They promise that they will pay $5.00 - $50.00 for each email you process. Doesn't that sound like a lot of money to cut and paste responses in emails? Companies who need help with responding to emails may look for a secretarial service or a virtual assistant but they won't pay that kind of money per email you send out.

What you will get or what won't you get?

How will you get paid? What kind of email messages do you process when you become an email processor? How will you be processing emails?

You will not get paid for each email you sent out. You only get paid when you sell the same email processing scam to someone else.

You will get an information kit with instructions to send the same ad to others and ask them to send you a fee. You can send that ad by email or newsletters or post ads in newsgroups and Web forums.

When someone clicks on your advertisement and buys the email processing information from you, they (the buyer - not the company) will pay you through Paypal. Upon payment, you will receive an email from Paypal with the purchase information that will indicate what product your buyer purchased. You will look up the reply you need to send for the product purchase in your training materials. You cut and paste that reply into the email and send it to the buyer.

Ask yourself this question: Would a legitimate company pay that kind of money to send emails where you just copy and paste a message into the emails?

Do you think that merchants sit at their computer or have work at home people sit at their computer all day so they can respond instantly to purchases? This is not how it works.

Merchants set up autoresponders to respond to purchases send email messages automatically. When people pay through Paypal or a shopping cart, the process is completely automated. The shopping cart automatically verifies that the credit card or Paypal payment is valid. After payment approval, the system automatically generates a thank you page and an email message. This page can include any information they want and can be different for each product they sell. This page can provide a link where buyers can automatically download the information, ebook, or software they purchased. It can even include a form asking for your buyer's name and email address to put them automatically in a database and autoresponder that can send automated follow-up messages.

So, why would those email processing companies pay you to send email messages manually when autoresponders and other software can do this automatically and can do it faster than you can? Why would a company pay you that much for email processing and for copying and pasting messages they can set up and send easily and inexpensively themselves with autoresponders?

The answer? They don't pay you for sending out messages. They are making money from selling you a worthless training manual.

You expect to get work and get paid for email processing work. Instead, they will instruct you to place ads and spam other people with the same useless information. They make easy money from people like you who are looking to find work from home with their computer.

Ads for email processors are misleading. Don't fall for the work at home email processing scam! You will be disappointed. You don't want to make money by spamming others.

data-entry-scams-exposed

(condensed article by author below)

.... a buddy of mine who is looking for a way to make some extra money. .......he stumbled onto an idea he liked. It was a data entry service that would pay him to type simple information into a couple of fields. He could do this right from the comfort of his own home and he'd get paid every two weeks.

This immediately set off the alarms in my head. I've seen people fall for data entry scams before and I didn't want to see it happen to my friend. ...Well it's true. I don't know everything. ...

This morning he ...told me he had been had... I asked if I could write a short article about his experience. If you've never heard of data entry scams then let me explain how they work so you can avoid getting burned by them.

Most advertisements for data entry jobs lead you to believe you'll be helping one or more companies enter data into a database or other computer system.

When you see these ads you probably think its a form of outsourcing like a medical transcriptionist. All you have to do to start earning a steady income is send away for their information package (and pay a small fee).

But when you get the package you realize you've been misled. You actually signed up to be an affiliate of the data entry service itself. Your information packet instructs you to sign up for Google AdWords and place ads for their service (this is where the "data entry" comes in). When someone clicks on your link and signs up you get a commission.

Now this in itself is not wrong. There's nothing wrong with affiliate marketing and you can make a lot of money doing it. But the scam is that this isn't what you signed up for. It's complete false advertising because they never told you:

1. You could have signed up to be their affiliate for free.
2. You're not doing data entry at all. You're purchasing advertisements.
3. You have to pay for those advertisements.
4. There's no guarantee you'll ever receive a single paycheck.

In my opinion these data entry scams are nothing more than a way to take advantage of people who are looking to make a few extra bucks in their spare time.

But trust me there are far better ways to make money online. Check out my money making secrets blog at http://imiseasy.com/ now to learn how to build a steady online income the right way.

data entry scams and clickbank

Some good information about data entry from Mathew (I condensed the article)

.... I was a bit shocked at the discovery that Clickbank had removed all data entry products . .... why would Clickbank pull the plug on these products? Another more telling tale of the whole type-at-home and data entry program is it is estimated that over 25% of those who purchase the product return the product. ....

So what is the problem with Data Entry programs and why are they being classified as scams and being returned at such a high rate?

... the answer is very simple: The name is very misleading!

These data entry programs are nothing more than affiliate marketing programs (just like TheRichJerk, Wealthy Affiliate and Affiliate Cash Vault). .... but you would not tell that from their ad copy. It describes "Just fill out a few Google Ads and make money today..." I suppose you are "entering data", but there is a whole lot more to this to be successful. (The eBooks go into the "more", as well, but this is not what the ad-copy told you!).

I think people go into Data Entry programs and Type-At-Home programs with the thinking that they will just need to "type" or "enter data" and presto!, I will make money.

When they finally join the program and learn that it is a lot more than that, they become frustrated or disappointed. This leads to high returns and the word "Scam" labelled all over the product.

.... There are also "true" data entry programs that fit the criteria of typing data in for a price (the biggest and best site for this is: Freelance Work Exchange.)

Matthew is a 32 year old online entrepreneur and engineer currently living in San Diego, CA.

Businesses Outsourcing Data Entry

by Michael Russell

Outsourcing is a business strategy in which a company hires another company to perform specific tasks rather than hire employees to take care of it. This is usually done on a support function so that company personnel can concentrate exclusively on the primary business of the company.

Companies who provide outsourcing services are sometimes called “business to business” companies, as their customers are other businesses rather than individuals. From this broad definition, all companies outsource. Even if you’re a sole proprietor, you can be said to be outsourcing when you buy office supplies. After all, it would be totally inconceivable to make them yourself! You depend on the experts in the office supply industry to provide suitable materials.

One of the largest and most adaptable outsourcing services commonly utilized by all kinds of companies is data entry. In fact, the demand is great and data entry services firms are growing rapidly.

A company’s data is one of its most valuable assets. Gathering it correctly is essential to its ability to make good business decisions. Therefore, a BTB firm seeking opportunities of this sort must be very detail oriented, have a good employee training system and be prepared to create and administer a much customized project plan for your company. They could be doing many kinds of data entry work, or they may specialize in a specific type; like medical billing.

Often a company is a provider AND a purchaser of outsourcing services. A good example is a bank. Banks, of course, provide financial services to individuals and businesses and that is their primary revenue source. In order to support this income, they may outsource their payroll function to a company that specializes in that activity.

However, many banks also provide outsourcing services in the form of data entry for their business customers. One popular example is lock box payments. In this outsourcing arrangement, all of the client company’s payments on account go directly to the bank. The bank opens them, applies the cash to the appropriate client account and deposits into the client’s bank account. They do this either by direct access the to client company’s payables systems, or they could do it separately and send a daily file of all transactions to the client company for them to take into their system in batch fashion.

There are many other types of data outsourcing provided by a wide range of companies. Some companies that may provide ancillary data entry outsourcing services are medical research facilities, universities, direct marketing firms, newspapers, insurance companies and trade organizations.

Availing yourself of the benefits of data entry services can provide tremendous opportunity for your company. Those who provide the services do so very efficiently and are already set up to do it quickly and accurately. The cost factor is often lower than what the company would spend on salaries and benefits if they did the data entry themselves. Couple that with the disruptions inherent with a larger staff and you’ll find outsourcing is not only a viable alternative, but also a preferred one in many cases.
