How to Get a Data Entry Work at Home Job

With data entry jobs, there are a few things you should know ahead of time before you apply. The first thing is there are few of these jobs available. Data entry is a highly desirable position. Many people want such a job because they think it is easy work. Because of these reasons, it might take weeks or even months to land a data entry job.

There is some truth that it can be an easy job. You don't have to deal with a lot of customers. You can get up for two seconds and stretch without missing something. Most of the time, the hours are flexible and the pay is pretty fair.

Many people are also disillusioned about what entails a data entry job. Some data entry jobs are completely different from another. For one job, you might be cataloging products. On another data entry position, you might be gathering information from customers (research) and inserting answers into an Excel file (data entry) that will require extra work to complete.
The skills might require the following:

· Fast typing speed up to 55+ WPM
· Some phone calls and research skills might be necessary
· Knowledge of Excel, Access or how to use spreadsheets
· High speed Internet access
· Updated virus software
· Updated computer with fast processor
· Knowledge of Quickbooks or other accounting software
· Work independently with little overhead management

So don't be fooled into thinking a work at home data entry job will be something too easy. It is if you have the right equipment and skills. Keep your eyes open though. There are new jobs being posted every day. You might find some data entry jobs that require only knowledge of Excel and a bit of online research. Some data entry might be re-editing articles to insert certain keywords inside. Keep an open mind and keep applying and you could soon have a data entry position.
